How brutal is the world of governance. Observe that ministerial team: each person is grappling with extremely difficult portfolios devoid of the tools to do what they understand is needed.

They anticipate brickbats, but they are human. Typically, the Labour MP boldly states the obvious truth: that exists "deep disillusionment in this country at the moment" and "a growing sense of despair about whether anyone is capable of turning this country round".

Voter Perception Puzzles

Yet, even so, the present hostile state of voter perception is perplexing and alarming. Keir Starmer is the most disliked prime minister on record. Truly?

He represents a honorable, committed person of good intentions, without undue arrogance or vanity. Contrast this with the Conservative leader, Liz Truss, or the breezy presumption of the former Conservative leader, all with so little to warrant arrogant assurance.

Prepare for being overwhelmed anyway, so employ their parliamentary advantage for the full parliament to pursue their inherent social democratic instinct: introduce significant fiscal adjustments, generating substantial revenue.

Prepare for opposition future elections, so take decisive action currently. Forget opinion polls and focus groups; allow citizens to observe authentic dedication. The exclusive approach to rebuild credibility is to implement openly what they believe most just and equitable.
