The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second consecutive year. The 27-year-old captured four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – which included successfully defending the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth career Grand Slam singles championship. A Season of Dominance Across the season, Sabalenka played in a circuit-leading nine finals, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final. The star player also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the entire year as the world number one, ending 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year. In July, she became the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015. Record-Breaking Statistics Sabalenka ended the season with a 63-12 win-loss record, and earned a historic £11m in tournament winnings. She earned almost 80% of the votes cast by global tennis journalists. On 28 December, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "help bring women's tennis to a higher level". Other WTA Award Winners Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, received the award after taking 13-month break following the birth of her first child and making her comeback to the sport at the start of this year. Newcomer of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko received the award after beginning the season positioned beyond the world's top 300 and soaring to world number 18. Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after winning their second Grand Slam title together. Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after reaching five finals. Recently, Carlos Alcaraz secured three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
