The President Welcomes Relatives of Attacked National Guard Soldiers to the Presidential Residence

Former President Trump revealed on the weekend that he has asked the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the executive mansion.

He mentioned that he spoke to her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Background on the Tragic Shooting

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a violent incident on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

Memorials across West Virginia have been held in their memory.

White House Offer

The president stated he’s talked about a White House visit for the loved ones of both soldiers of the West Virginia Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president informed reporters. “And similarly with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Reaction

Community members gathered over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to honor Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of the president’s national effort to support law enforcement in the capital.

Remembering Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that teachers wished for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a positive energy that inspired people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of her former high school, stated to the press. “She was sweet, considerate and always willing to help others.”

Service plans for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Legal Steps and Government Changes

Authorities have accused a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of murder and charges of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The event caused the administration to halt asylum applications and cease issuing entry permits to holders of Afghan passports.

Condition of Andrew Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in February 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, as reported by the Associated Press.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader Patrick Morrisey mentioned on a news program.

Attorney general the attorney general informed the program that she planned to speak to Wolfe’s family.

Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a MP with honor, according to the military.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had fortitude,” he addressed the audience at the vigil. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
